Motor Insurance For Off Road Vehicles

Article by Danny Aaron

Everyone has their own personal choice of motor vehicle. The off roading community is growing, so naturally the need for off road insurance has increased. There are more and more 4 x4 vehicle owners, and they need the protection necessary for their vehicles.

Off roading can be very hazardous, to the driver and especially the vehicle. Off road vehicles can travel on very rocky, muddy, mountainous terrains, cross country and across water bodies too. They also venture into unknown lands where hitting livestock or wild animals could be a risk. These vehicles are also at the risk of dangerous roads that are only created using dirt or gravel.

There are many different off road vehicles that can be insured with off road vehicle insurance. These include 4 x 4s, all terrain vehicles (ATVs), caravans, off road trailers, quad bikes, light delivery vehicles and also off dirt bikes.

Off road cover is pretty much the same as normal comprehensive car insurance cover, except it also includes the added extras needed by off roaders. First of all, the coverage will take care of theft, collisions with other vehicles, hijacking, fires and third party claims. The added extras will cover the problems that can arise when you are utilising your car for off road purposes.

First of all, the insurance will include cover for the accessories on your off road vehicle. This includes the bull bar, floodlights, and any other 4 x4 accessories that are on your vehicle. You will also receive off road cover, meaning that the insurance company will pay out for damages that occur on your vehicle during off road adventures. Rocks, gravel, trees and other parts of nature can cause damage to your vehicle, and will cost a pretty penny to repair. This is why it is a good thing to have insurance specifically for your off road vehicle. Some companies offering off road insurance will offer an emergency service. This emergency service promises to air lift the driver or any injured passengers if they are stuck in an area that is not easily accessible by car. Some of these policies will also include admission into a reputable clinic for treatment, with medical cover up until a specified amount.

You can also take out off road insurance for your other leisure equipment, such as your jet skis, paragliding equipment, canoes and so forth. The off road cover will usually also cover your spare tire and even your cell phone.

When you approach an insurance company make sure that they have specialised off road cover. It is best to go with a company that has experience and knowledge in insuring off road vehicles. Shop around for some quotes before settling on a final decision. You never know when a better deal is around the corner. Remember that you might have to pay a steep sized sum on your insurance every month, but the fee is worth it. Your car is most likely an expensive one, and it is therefore invaluable that you insure it properly.
